The Vision:
The Fire House Development Hockey Program, in conjunction with The Cooler Learn To Play Hockey Program, envisions a multi layered skill development approach for all youth hockey players starting at the grass roots level.  Capitalizing on the key skills acquirement years (9 - 12), the Program is designed to get the young players more ice and puck touches.  Implementing professionally structured practices and skill development ice sessions, our goal is to help the players reach their talent ceiling.

Key Concepts of the Program:
*    MITES - On Ice touches (3 touches per week including 2 skill practices and 1 game)
*    Professionally structured practices and skill development sessions
*    Emphasis on individual skills along with the introduction of team play
*    A challenging environment yet a fun atmosphere with positive feedback to players

8U Mite Program:
Skill Development Days:
Tuesdays at 5:10pm or Sundays at 12:30pm
Games:  Saturday at 8:15am

After a tremendously successful 2016/2017 season, our 8U program will continue to offer 2 skills sessions per week as well as templated Saturday morning cross ice games.  Player's will be split into 4 equal teams of 8 players.  The skills sessions will be run by a staff of professional coaches and skills coaches to push the young players while ensuring they are having fun and developing.
32 Total Players
4 Teams of 8

This age category is critical to the success of any hockey program.  The program is designed to have the players moving, skating, touching pucks, playing games and enjoying the game.  Understanding how young players think is the key to maximizing their ice time with fun and challenging drills.  Skills stations will best help them achieve basic and fine-tuned motor skills.  Remembering that hockey is the only sport where a young player has to completely learn how to balance on skates before doing anything else.  Our main focus is to create an atmosphere of learning the game in a fun and positive setting.

10U Squirt Program:
Skill Development Days:
 Mondays at 5:40pm
Games:  Saturday or Sundays - Time to be determined

The 10U division which plays their games within the Atlanta Youth Hockey League (AYHL) returns from an extremely successful season.
Last season, the Fire development fielded 3 teams & this season looks to have 4 teams of 12 skaters and a goalie.  The age category will have their skill sessions on Monday nights, which will be run by the Fire Professional hockey development staff.  Off of this age category, we will also field an All-Star level team, which will give players who want the extra development and games, a chance to compete in supplemental practices and games as well as a few tournaments away from their league play.
Max 48 Players and 8 Goalies

This is the start of the optimal years of skill acquirement for all young hockey players.  The goal is to push the players to acquire all the necessary skills to be a successful player moving forward into their teen years.  Building off the basics, they will have acquired in the Mite Program, those skills are now being built on alongside the understanding of the game.  Using small area games and lots of repetition to build muscle memory, players will continue to refine their skills.

12U Peewee Program:
Skill Development Days:
Wednesdays at 5:40pm
Games:  Saturdays or Sundays - Time to be determined

The 12U division will once again compete in the AYHL hockey league and have their skills night on Wednesday nights with the Fire professional development staff.  Last year the age category fielded 2 teams and e will look for the same targeted teams this upcoming season.  The 12U will also field an All-Star level team, which will give the top player's supplemental games and ice time to help speed up their skills and hockey develoment.

We will start implementing a more structured environment for the players, such as a fore-check understanding, power-play and penalty kill intro and learning how to play the ultimate team game.  Using small area games and lots of repetition to build muscle memory, players will continue to refine their skills.

14U Bantam Program:
Team Practices:
 Fridays at 7:00pm
Games:  Saturday or Sunday games - Time to be determined

Our 14U hockey league will compete in the AYHL hockey league and will have their team skates on Friday nights as well as games which will fluctuate times during the weekends.

The 14U hockey program will continue to give players an avenue to play hockey for fun in a competitive non travel setting.  The teams will receive one hockey practice on Friday nights as well as play games over the weekend, but typically on Saturday afternoons.  This Program has the possibility to be coupled with a non-check High School Hockey League which will provide players with supplemental games as well as competition without having to commit to a travel level schedule.  The Fire Development Program is a proud member of the AYHL Hockey League, started in 2013 by 3 programs and has now expanded to 4 programs within the city of Atlanta.

High School Non Check Division
Games Only:
Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays - Time to be determined

This year, with multiple players moving up from the 14U division, we will now field a High School Non Check hockey team as well, which will be a game only option for players' birth years 2000 - 2002.  This is a great supplement for players who compete in the GSHL high school league, to get extra hockey games in on Fridays and Saturdays to stay sharp for their teams season.
